Bound to her enemy

Ruthless warrior Lothar the Frank has laid siege to Castle Haword, but there’s a fiery redhead in his way—and she’s not backing down!

More tomboy than trembling maiden, Lady Juliana Danville would rather die than lose the castle. When she’s caught on opposite sides of a war, a marriage bargain is brokered to bring peace. But is blissful married life possible when Juliana has a dangerous secret hidden within the castle walls?

I absolutely adored this book down to the gorgeous cover! This is the second book I have had the pleasure of reading from author Jenni Fletcher and I’m so impressed!

The setting of this book is 1147 England during the Civil War which was known as The Anarchy. I honestly knew nothing of the history of this time period and I must say Jenni pulled me in! It’s obvious she has done her research and I must say I found myself wanting to search out more of Empress Matilda, Stephen of Blois and The Anarchy period.

Our hero Lothar the Frank is a Seargent for Empress Matilda and has come to Herefordshire to end a four-month-long siege of Castle Haword. The one person standing in his way is Lady Juliana Danville who has pledged to hold the castle for King Stephen.

Lothar and Juliana were such a great couple. They are both strong characters with strong personalities, but as we get to know them we see their vulnerabilities which makes them even more appealing. The story was entertaining and the romance was sweet and believable. This was just a fantastic read from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book and author!
