The Highlander’s Lost Lady
(The Lairds Most Likely #3)
Anna Campbell
Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey/Fiona Grant

My Rating: 5/5
A Highlander as brave and strong as a knight of old…
When Diarmid Mactavish, Laird of Invertavey, discovers a mysterious woman washed up on his land after a wild storm, he takes her in and tries to find her family. But even as forbidden dreams of sensual fulfillment torment him, he’s convinced that this beautiful lassie isn’t what she seems. And if there’s one thing Diarmid despises, it’s a liar.
A mother willing to do anything to save her daughter…
Widow Fiona Grant has risked everything to break free of her clan and rescue her adolescent daughter from a forced marriage. But before her quest has barely begun, disaster strikes. She escapes her brutish kinsmen, only to be shipwrecked on Mactavish territory where she falls into her enemies’ hands. For centuries, a murderous feud has raged between the Mactavishes and the Grants, so how can she trust her darkly handsome host?
Now a twisted Highland road leads to danger and passion…and irresistible love. But is love strong enough to banish the past’s long shadows and offer these wary allies all that their hearts desire?
The Highlander’s Lost Lady is the third book in “The Lairds Most Likely” series by author Anna Campbell. Wow! What a fantastic story, captivating from beginning to end!
Diarmid Mactavish is Laird of Invertavey. If you’ve read the previous two books in this series, then you’ve already met Diarmid. While out riding on his estate, he discovers two bodies washed up onto the beach. When he’s about to give up hope that neither one suvived, he realizes the young woman is still alive. He takes her back to his estate to recover, but when she claims she doesn’t remember who she is, Diarmid is suspicious.
Fiona Grant has run away from her clan, only to end up half dead on land owned by Diarmid Mactavis, an enemy to her clan. Desperate to rescue her daughter who has been taken away from her, and not one to easily trust, especially when it comes to men, she’s leery of telling Diarmid the truth of her situation.
First I have to say I really loved Fiona. Her story was heartbreaking and to see that she survived after all she endured, showed what a brave & determined woman she was. She was a good person, forced into a nightmare of a situation at a very young age. As for Diarmid, what an example of the perfect knight in shining armor! I liked the glimpses of him in the previous books, but he truly shined in this story. He was the perfect hero and I have to admit I fell for him too!
Besides a fabulous story between Fiona and Diarmid, author Anna Campbell let us revisit with Fergus and Marina from “The Laird’s Willful Lass” the first story in this series. It was wonderful to catch up with them and see them play a role in this story. I have enjoyed each and every story in this series, but this one blew me away! Ms. Campbell never disappoints in delivering a well-written story, full of suspense, humor, and love. It’s a fabulous story I struggled to put down. Highly recommend this book and series!
